Player dribbles full speed from baseline, performs a stride-stop (1-2 step) at the foul line, then a jump-stop (both feet at once) at half-court, then a stride-stop at the far foul line, finishing with a layup.
Footwork is what separates good from great. This trains both stops to the point of muscle memory.
Stride-stop: outside foot lands first, then inside foot. Either foot can pivot.
Jump-stop: both feet hit ground simultaneously. Either foot can pivot.
Low on the stop — knees bent, ready to play.
Don't lose balance — control the stop, don't crash into it.
Eyes up the whole time — see the floor.
Add a coach who calls 'stride' or 'jump' as you approach each line — must react. Add a passer at the elbow — catch on the run, perform the stop. Add a defender for live application.
