Wing player starts in the corner. Big screens for the wing, who 'zips' (sprints up the lane line) to the top of the key, receives a pass, and immediately attacks. Used to start a half-court set or counter aggressive denial.
Great for getting your best shooter the ball in motion.
• Wing reads the defender — sprint hard, brush shoulder
• Big sets a real screen — wide base, hold the contact 1 second
• Catch facing the rim — ready to shoot, drive or pass
• Big steps to the slot for the pass back if needed
• Follow with a ball-screen action — natural flow
Zipper into pick-and-roll (most common). Zipper into back-cut (if denied). Double zipper (both wings zip simultaneously). Add a step-up screen after the catch.
